Our Story
NexGen HVAC Services is a locally, family-owned commercial HVAC company serving Hampton Roads and the surrounding area. We started in 2016 with a straightforward approach: treat our customers’ equipment, buildings, and problems as if they were our own. We provide commercial HVAC maintenance, service, installation, and building automation. Our technicians work on rooftop units, split systems, VRF/VRV systems, DOAS equipment, and complex building controls and energy management systems. Technical development is a priority at NexGen. Technicians receive manufacturer and in-house training, support for licenses and certifications, and the opportunity to work on complex commercial HVAC systems that challenge and grow their skills. The team is looking for technicians who want to do more than only change parts or check boxes. The goal here is to understand how the system works, troubleshoot the whole problem, communicate clearly, and take pride in the result. Our long-term customer relationships weren't built by taking shortcuts. Those relationships are built by doing what we say we will do, paying attention to the details, and working to solve the actual problem instead of looking for the quickest way to close a call.
What It Is Like to Work Here
During your first month, you will learn our customers, systems, software, paperwork, and expectations. You will work with experienced team members and take on work that matches your current skill level. As you show that you are ready, you will be given more independence and more complex work. We expect technicians to ask questions, accept coaching, communicate honestly, and take pride in their work. Nobody is expected to know everything. We do expect you to keep learning, use the resources available to you, and take responsibility for your work. Our service, installation, and controls teams work together. When a difficult problem comes up, technicians and managers share information and help each other solve the problem. At times, you may be asked to support another department. This helps the company meet its commitments and gives technicians a better understanding of the complete system. Safety comes before production. Employees are expected to identify and communicate hazards and every employee has the authority to stop work because of a safety concern. No job is so important and no service call is so urgent that we cannot take the time to do the work safely. New employees are typically scheduled for OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR training provided by NexGen within their first 30 days. The right person for NexGen wants to become a better technician, help the team succeed, and take ownership of the equipment and customers assigned to them. We provide the technology, training, and support needed to grow. The rest comes down to effort, accountability, and pride in your work.
