The HVAC Installer Helper assists Lead Installers with the installation, replacement, and startup of residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in the HVAC industry while learning proper installation techniques, safety procedures, and customer service skills. Essential Responsibilities
Assist with the installation of residential HVAC systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits, thermostats, and indoor air quality products.
Load, unload, and transport equipment, materials, and tools to and from job sites.
Remove and dispose of old HVAC equipment and materials safely.
Assist in installing ductwork, refrigerant lines, drain lines, electrical components, and ventilation systems.
Support system startup, testing, and basic commissioning procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site throughout each installation.
Follow manufacturer specifications, company standards, and local building codes.
Operate hand tools and power tools safely and properly.
Maintain inventory of installation materials and assist with stocking company vehicles.
Complete basic paperwork and mobile documentation as required.
Provide courteous and professional customer service while in customers' homes.
Follow all OSHA and company safety policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred.
1-3 years of previous HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical experience preferred but not required.
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
EPA Section 608 Certification is a plus or willingness to obtain.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
Basic understanding of HVAC systems and installation practices.
Ability to read tape measures and follow installation instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders, work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and confined spaces.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, squat, and work overhead for extended periods.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat and cold.
Compensation: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
