HVAC Mechanic

Location:  Fort Leonard Wood, MO

Employment Class:  Full-Time Regular

FLSA Classification:  Non-Exempt Hourly (SCA)

Position Summary:

Advancia Government Services (a federal government contractor) seeks a qualified full-time HVAC Mechanic. The HVAC Mechanic supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities on Fort Leonard Wood.
 

**Position contingent upon award of contract

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•    Performing routine and emergency repairs, maintenance and annual preventative maintenance on HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.
•    Assess and analyze issues with HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.
•    Monitor computer HVAC system to ensure system is functioning properly and identify issues.
•    Respond to service calls.
•    Perform inventory of filters and belts to ensure they are stocked.
•    Replacement of major components such as condenser coils, evaporator coils, compressors, control components and motors.
•    Adjust manual and actuated dampers for air flow and air balancing needs.
•    Ensure bearings and belts are properly maintained and changed when necessary.
•    Regularly clean condenser and evaporator coils of debris.
•    Perform tasks related to general construction.
•    Install new ductwork.
•    Install new plumbing lines.
•    Assess issues and repair fume hoods.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

•    High school diploma or GED
•    Possession of valid driver license 
•    Must be a skilled craftsman in their trade and have a minimum of three (3) years of actual, practical working experience in the industrial HVAC chiller, plumbing, pipefitting, and /or mechanical equipment service industry.
•    Must have knowledge of trade and equipment repair that would designate you as subject level expert within your team.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements:

•    Ability to work with voltages up to 480 volts
•    Ability to read and work from blueprints and electrical schematics
•    Ability to work with testing equipment (volt/ohm/amp meters, air balancing equipment, etc.)
•    Ability to work in extreme temperatures, damp or wet conditions, bio-hazardous materials and chemicals, fumes, dust, elevated noise levels, and the use of personal protective equipment
•    Ability to work at heights up to 150 ft. that exist on campus with or without accommodations
•    Ability to work in close and confined spaces for extended periods of time
•    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
•    Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
•    PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of HVAC equipment; including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).


Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands

•    Prolonged periods standing, bending, stooping, and reaching.
•    Must have a full range of physical motion as required to properly operate manual and electric power tools.
•    Must have balance necessary to traverse and work on scaffolding and roofs.
•    Will work in a variety of environments and weather with exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals in both indoor and outdoor construction and carpentry.
•    Must be able to regularly lift and carry 50 pounds and 100 pounds occasionally.
