The HVAC Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots various HVAC systems and associated electrical and piping.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Conduct inspections of all equipment to assess proper function.
· Perform standard preventative maintenance tasks on various equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s standards, including filter changes.
· Complete preventative maintenance forms and prepare reports.
· Complete minor equipment
adjustments and repairs, including but not limited to belt
replacement/adjustment, alignment and set screw adjustment, heating coil
cleaning, evaporator and condensing coil cleaning on equipment, and maintain
and
treat condensate pans.
· Install, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and operate campus HVAC systems and component parts, especially hot water & steam boiler fired by No.2 oil.
· Work from piping diagrams, schematics, blueprints, sketches, and/or verbal instructions.
· Utilize a variety of tools and instruments associated with the trade.
· Observe safety regulations at all times and attend safety training as needed.
· Clean work area and maintain tools and equipment.
· Under supervision, must be able to coordinate work with other trades.
· Work with Energy Management Systems, including monitoring and programming.
· Perform other duties normally within the scope of an HVAC mechanic’s duties, including domestic hot water, exhaust systems, make-up air systems, and refrigeration.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· At least 5 years of applicable experience.
· EPA Certification-Universal, MA Oil Burner Technician Certificate.
· 4 years of vocational training or other certified or recognized trades program as pertains to the trade is preferred.
· A valid driver’s license is required.
