Job Description
Come work at Samford University for JCI! This is a dedicated position providing service to newly constructed facilities on Samford’s campus. No travel required. Work hours are M-F, 7:00am to 4:00pm. Under general supervision, performs general preventive and corrective maintenance duties or minor technical tasks required to maintain systems, equipment, and building.
- Performs scheduled maintenance on building HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Lighting systems.
- Performs or coordinates corrective maintenance for the above.
- Performs routine repair of structures, which may include wall repairs, carpet installation, sanding walls in preparation for painting, painting, etc.
- Observing maintenance issues, reporting items in need of attention to supervisor, making routine repairs as requested.
- Assisting in materials inventory.
- Performs routine building and safety checks on heating, cooling and other equipment.
- Utilizes work order system to include interpreting work orders, performing work requested and completing work orders per instruction.
- Performs a variety of maintenance functions related plumbing, electrical, A/V, security, carpentry, doors, and hardware.
- May require travel to obtain materials, i.e. retrieving supplies/materials for tasks, holding objects (materials requiring more than one person), cleaning-up after completion of tasks.
- Able to work in occupied areas of a functioning administrative and secure facility
- May operate various construction equipment to perform required service.
- Moves furniture and equipment as assigned.
- Ensures all light fixtures are operational, changes light bulbs as necessary.
- May assist in layout, construction and repair of a variety of plant or office structures such as walls, partitions, doors, concrete forms, raised floors, ceiling tiles or roofs.
- Assists in layout for equipment installation.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and adheres to company standards.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Performs any other miscellaneous duties as requested.
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read labels, directions, work orders, etc.
- Requires two to three years of general maintenance experience or specialized technical experience. HVAC or Controls training or certification a plus but not required for this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be a team player committed to working in a quality environment.
- Must be physically able to perform maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs., etc.
