Mechanical Estimator - HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection - Greater Boston

BELMONT Search is a Construction and Infrastructure executive search firm. We work with mechanical, plumbing and fire protection contractors across Greater Boston, and we are recruiting estimators for them at more than one level.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Estimator positions with an established mechanical contractor in Greater Boston, from estimator through senior estimator, on commercial, institutional, laboratory and healthcare work. The positions report to the chief estimator and work alongside preconstruction and project management, and the senior level carries its own bids from invitation to award.

THE ROLE

Takeoff, pricing and bid assembly on plan and spec and design build mechanical packages, then the handoff to the team that builds the job. At the senior level, scope review with the general contractor, subcontractor and vendor quotes, and bid day are yours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Quantity takeoff and pricing of sheet metal, piping, plumbing or fire protection scopes
• Vendor and subcontractor quotes, equipment selection and lead times
• Scope review, requests for information and bid clarifications with the general contractor
• Bid day assembly and submission
• Handoff of the estimate and buyout plan to project management
• Cost history maintained against the jobs as they are built

QUALIFICATIONS

• Three or more years estimating mechanical, plumbing or fire protection construction; senior candidates will have eight or more
• Commercial, institutional, laboratory or healthcare projects in New England
• Fluent in an estimating platform such as Trimble AutoBid or a comparable system
• Field or project management experience in the mechanical trades is an advantage

COMPENSATION

Base of $110,000 to $160,000, plus bonus.
