The Plumbing/HVAC Helper assists licensed plumbers, HVAC technicians, and installers with the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of plumbing and HVAC systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This entry-level position provides hands-on experience while supporting field crews in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality service to customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist plumbers and HVAC technicians with installations, repairs, and maintenance projects.
Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites.
Load, unload, and organize materials and supplies.
Help install piping, ductwork, fixtures, equipment, and related components.
Assist with troubleshooting plumbing and HVAC system issues.
Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, changing filters, flushing lines, and cleaning work areas.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely under supervision.
Maintain a clean and organized job site.
Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
Accurately complete assigned tasks and communicate progress to supervisors.
Provide excellent customer service while representing the company professionally.
Attend training sessions and participate in ongoing skills development.
RequirementsRequired
High school diploma or GED preferred.
At least 1 year of previous plumbing and or HVAC experience.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Strong work ethic, punctuality, and dependability.
Preferred
Familiarity with hand and power tools.
OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain).
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing ladders, kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Willingness to learn plumbing and HVAC trade skills through hands-on training.
Working Conditions
Work performed indoors and outdoors in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and construction-related hazards.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Regular standing, walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and reaching.
Ability to safely use ladders and work at heights when required.
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
