Sheet Metal Apprentice – Charleston, South Carolina

Position Summary

Design Build Mechanical Incorporated is seeking a Sheet Metal Apprentice / Helper to assist experienced sheet metal mechanics with the installation, fabrication, and assembly of commercial HVAC ductwork systems. This position provides an opportunity to learn the mechanical construction trade while supporting projects in healthcare, industrial, education, commercial, and institutional facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation of HVAC ductwork and sheet metal components.
• Load, unload, and organize materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
• Measure, cut, and prepare ductwork under the direction of experienced mechanics.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Follow all company and jobsite safety requirements.
• Support layout, assembly, and installation activities on commercial construction projects.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Work collaboratively with field supervisors and project teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior construction experience is helpful but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
• Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn the trade.
• Reliable transportation and regular attendance required.

Compensation:

$18 to $25 per hour (DOE)
