    <description><![CDATA[ 🔧 Join Our Elite Team of Technicians! 🔧    Starting at $20 -$45+ based on experience  Overview Total Mechanical Service is hiring an HVAC, Refrigeration &amp;amp; Cooking Equipment Technician responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial kitchen &amp;amp; refrigeration equipment at our customer locations. About the Role
 
We are seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Mechanic – HVAC to join our team in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for installing, repairing, overhauling, and maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related equipment, while ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and all safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) checks and services on refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, ventilation systems, compressed air systems, and HVAC-related equipment supporting building automation systems.
Service and repair HVAC systems including refrigerant recovery, evacuation, recharging, leak repairs, and part replacements.
Troubleshoot and repair defective breakers, controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and other HVAC components.
Read and interpret HVAC manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Collaborate with other trades to bring equipment back online promptly and safely.
Drive company vehicles to pick up or deliver equipment and parts as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Journeyman certificate or minimum of 5 years HVAC experience
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Familiarity with basic computer applications

What you’ll do: You’ll be responsible for duties involving HVAC repairs and general maintenance repairs on equipment and buildings, assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry.
Essential functions:

Perform maintenance and repair of HVAC systems.
Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
Perform repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
Help prepare surfaces for finishing, i.e., painting, as directed.
Direct the work of detainees assigned to facility maintenance as appropriate.
Perform preventive maintenance checks on HVAC systems.
Perform routine schedules checks of HVAC systems.
Requires long periods of walking and standing.
Climbing stairs and ladders as required for facility maintenance.
Pushing and pulling of maintenance tool cart is required.
Respond to emergency situations or equipment breakdowns.
Providing cleaning, transportation, moving of equipment as needed.
Regular attendance is required.
Promote the development of positive social skills among detainees through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices

Education and experience requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent
Training and licensing in the repair and maintenance of HVAC systems required. 
General knowledge of repair and maintenance, and three (3) years of maintenance or related experience also required. 
Must successfully complete preservice training. 
Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Key Responsibilities


Install residential HVAC systems, including split systems, package units, mini-splits, boilers, and water heaters


Lead and oversee a crew of two to three installers on residential job sites


Communicate professionally with customers to ensure a five-star experience


Maintain timely and consistent communication with the Installation Manager


Assist with training and mentoring installation team members


Perform other duties as assigned by management

Replace lamps, light fixtures, verify rooms are clean and clear of obstructions and debris.• Check for properly operating emergency exit signs and lights and ensure free and clear access to emergency stairs and exits.
