About the Role:J &amp;amp; J Air is seeking a skilled HVAC Installation Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, working with a lead installer. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The HVAC Installation Assistant will ensure that all systems are installed correctly and function efficiently to meet client satisfaction.Responsibilities:
Assist lead technicians in the installation of HVAC systems and components
Install HVAC systems according to manufacturer specifications and local codes
Build comfort systems by installing air handlers, condensing units, package equipment, duct work, and refrigerant tubing

The HVAC Service Manager is an instrumental part of the leadership team and heads the HVAC Division in technician supervision and customer service. As a leader, the HVAC Service Manager will strive for division growth, improve division processes, proactively manage supplier relationships, lead and coach field personnel, create reports, streamline process and provide excellent customer service to our loyal customer base.RESPONSIBILIITIES/DUTIES
The HVAC Service Manager directs daily operations of the HVAC Division by successfully performing the following responsibilities:

Schedules, directs and provides technical support for HVAC technicians to meet service demands and customers’ expectations
Maintains priority on customer service excellence

Reviews technicians’ work to ensure quality meets established standards, techniques and safety requirements; makes recommendations as requirements to improve quality and productivity
Responsible for HVAC technicians’ performance and for setting improvement goals per company requirements

Conducts group and one-on-one meetings with technicians
Develops and monitors budgets, goals and objectives to insure departmental profitability

Manages the fleet maintenance program

Position SummaryMarina Mechanical Services is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and technically proficient HVAC Special Projects Coordinator to oversee the successful execution of commercial HVAC retrofit, replacement, tenant improvement, and special service projects.This position serves as the primary coordinator for assigned projects, managing all phases from initial project turnover and planning through procurement, scheduling, execution, customer communication, billing support, and closeout. Primary ResponsibilitiesProject Planning &amp;amp; Coordination
Manage the full lifecycle of HVAC service projects from project award through closeout and warranty handoff.
Conduct project turnover meetings and review project scope, plans, specifications, proposals, and customer requirements.
Develop project schedules, resource plans, procurement timelines, and installation strategies utilizing Smartsheet.
Coordinate labor requirements with Service Management, Dispatch, and field personnel.
Track project milestones, material deliveries, inspections, equipment startup, and customer acceptance.

Identify project risks, schedule impacts, potential cost overruns and proactively develop solutions.

Obtain and review vendor quotations.

Verify equipment compliance with project specifications.
Customer &amp;amp; Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
Conduct site visits, project meetings, and progress reviews with customers and stakeholders.

Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and responsiveness.

Field Operations Support

QualificationsEducation
Bachelor&#039;s Degree in Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent HVAC industry experience may be substituted for formal education.
Experience
3-5+ years of commercial HVAC experience in project coordination, project management, service operations, estimating, construction administration, or related roles.
Experience managing HVAC retrofit, replacement, tenant improvement, or special projects preferred.
Experience coordinating field labor, subcontractors, procurement, and customer communications.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Perform advanced preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, including CRAH/CRAC units, AHUs, fan systems, pumps, chillers at a support level, VFDs, humidification systems, and associated mechanical equipment.
Lead troubleshooting for complex HVAC, airflow, humidity, and thermal issues impacting data halls and support spaces.
Monitor system performance, BAS/BMS alarms, trends, and environmental conditions to ensure thermal stability and system efficiency.
Support seasonal changeovers, load transitions, operational adjustments, and system optimization initiatives.
Execute all work in accordance with approved SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, safety requirements, and change-control processes.

Coordinate closely with Controls and Chiller teams to verify sequences of operation, setpoints, alarms, and system integration.
Inspect mechanical systems, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions, repairs, or capital improvements.
Escort and oversee third-party contractors, OEMs, and vendors, ensuring compliance with site safety and operational requirements.
Accurately document all work performed, deficiencies identified, corrective actions, and recommendations in the CMMS.
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, post-incident review, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and company policies.

Required Qualifications 

Minimum 7+ years of HVAC experience, preferably in mission-critical, data center, industrial, or large commercial environments.
Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, chilled water systems, airflow management, humidity control, VFDs, pumps, and BAS/BMS interfaces.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&amp;amp;IDs, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and technical documentation.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control-related HVAC issues.
Experience working under SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, change control, and zero-impact work practices preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and shift handoff skills.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school preferred.
Preferred Certifications / Training 

EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification preferred
OEM HVAC or CRAC/CRAH training preferred
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred

Minimum Qualifications

The anticipated salary range for this role in the California locality is between $65,000 to $75,000 per year —salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as a Refrigeration Mechanic within the Maintenance Unit. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
This position performs skilled mechanical work in the operation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. 

Installs, maintains and repairs varying types of refrigeration equipment ranging from room air conditioners, water coolers, refrigerators, walk-in coolers and freezers, ice machines, roof mounted air handlers and compressors, and two (2) 400 ton centrifugal chillers.  Maintain cooling towers and perform water treatment tests.  Maintain all heating equipment, pneumatic and electrical controls, mixing boxes and duct work to ensure a secure, safe and comfortable environment for the people we serve and staff.  Required to operate State owned vehicles.
Repairs and installs refrigeration and air conditioning equipment according to blueprints and schematic drawings; assembles structural and functional components; and submits requisitions for the purchase of necessary supplies and materials for the installation of the equipment.
Performs corrective maintenance, as required or scheduled by Trades Supervisor, using work order requests or verbal instructions.  Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment as scheduled by Trades Supervisor; keeps all pertinent records, estimates required manpower, equipment and material needs and informs Trades Supervisor of same.  Performs routine inspections as required.  Maintain fire dampers in duct work.  Maintain records and logs for the preventive maintenance program, on the equipment for which responsible to ensure the most cost-effective method of operation.  Is responsible for upkeep of tools, uniforms and will report any damage and loss to immediate Supervisor.
Repairs and installs washers and dryers.  Assists with repair and preventive maintenance on laundry equipment.
Responsible for the storage of all assigned refrigerants and maintains a log for all recycled refrigerants.  Keeps a journal showing the type, amount, building and date for all refrigerants used throughout the campus.
Performs scheduled night service and repairs necessary to keep equipment operating satisfactory.
Performs related duties as assigned.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:

Knowledge of the procedures and methods for installing, repairing and maintaining refrigeration and air-conditioning units and component parts.

What does a typical day look like for the HVAC Tech?
You will:
8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Federal Holidays excluded.Perform regular maintenance tasks such as changing filters, cleaning coils, and checking system performance.Inspect HVAC systems for wear and tear and efficiency.Diagnose and repair malfunctions in HVAC systems. Replace faulty components like motors, compressors, and thermostats.Monitor and adjust central air conditioning systems to ensure optimal environmental control for patient care areas. Maintain indoor air quality by ensuring proper ventilation and humidity control.Work closely with other maintenance staff and hospital departments to ensure seamless operation of HVAC systems.

Position Overview

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:
Assists in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and cooling units for residential and/or commercial customers. Summary


Michigan Technological University is seeking a HVAC Technician for our Facilities Management department. The HVAC Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, installation, calibration, and troubleshooting of all components of campus HVAC systems, including refrigeration and steam systems.




Responsibilities and Essential Duties


• Maintain, repair, replace, inspect, calibrate, install and troubleshoot:• Refrigeration equipment and building air conditioning systems including coolers, refrigerators, freezers, chillers, cooling towers, condensers and related equipment.• HVAC system components such as fans, motors, pumps, compressors, dampers, heat pumps, humidifiers, coils, ductwork, heat exchangers, boilers, stills, steam traps, and piping.• DDC and Pneumatic control systems and components such as controllers, modules, sensors, actuators, transducers, and software.• Fabrication and installation of HVAC systems and controls.• Maintains spare parts inventory for essential HVAC and control equipment.• Responds to emergency call outs which may occur during off shift hours.• Follows all university safety policies and procedures while performing duties including use of hot work permits and confined space procedures and takes prescribed safety classes and training.• Attends additional training classes as assigned and continually works toward increasing knowledge and skills relative to field of work.• Prepare cost estimates, layout sketches, material selection, schedules, surveys, and reports for various projects as assigned. Coordinate and/or lead as assigned the efforts of other trades in projects involving multiple trades, solicit input in project estimates, layout and material selection from other trades and planning and engineering.• Contribute to a safe working environment by following safe work procedures, wearing assigned PPE, actively participating in safety training and development of safe work procedures.• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures


• High School diploma or equivalent post-secondary certificate. • EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Recycling and Recovery Certification• Graduate of a Trades school program in HVAC or Refrigeration or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.• Valid driver’s license.




Required Experience


• Four years of experience in maintaining, repairing, and trouble-shooting commercial HVAC systems.• Four years of experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting commercial or industrial refrigeration systems which may include walk-in freezers, refrigerators, coolers, and ice making machines.• Four years of experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting chillers, cooling towers, evaporators, and condensers.




Desirable Education and/or Experience


• Six years of experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting commercial or industrial refrigeration including freezers, refrigerators, coolers, and ice making machines.• Six years of experience in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting or repairing chillers, cooling towers, evaporators and condensers.• Training and coursework in air conditioning and refrigeration, blueprint reading, CAD, industrial piping, piping systems, pneumatic and electronic controls, steam systems and welding.• Experience in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting direct digital controls, network control modules and controllers, resistive temperature devices, (RTD’s), thermistors, and I/P transducers




Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities


• Ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.• Demonstrated knowledge of safe maintenance procedures applicable to the trade.• Demonstrated knowledge of standard practices, building codes, regulations and theory applicable to HVAC control systems.• Knowledge and ability to properly troubleshoot, maintain and repair commercial or industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems.• Demonstrated knowledge of typical commercial and industrial digital and pneumatic HVAC controls systems and components.• Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, temperature control diagrams, operating and maintenance instructions, plans and manuals.• Basic knowledge of parallel and series electrical circuits.• Basic knowledge of 3-phase circuits up to 480 volts.• Demonstrated ability to use manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to the position.• Demonstrated ability to join piping and related components by soldering, threading and adhesives.• Ability to be trained for and to work in OSHA regulated confined spaces.• Knowledge of the basics of hot work permits.• Demonstrate competency in using personal computers to access web sites, load and operate software, use word processors and spreadsheets and manage files and directories. • Ability and availability to work flexible hours, overtime, evenings, nights and weekends when required to handle emergencies or work backlogs

• Knowledge of water treatment for boilers, hot water systems, chilled water systems and cooling towers.• Demonstrated knowledge and ability of how to properly maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, repair and install typical commercial and industrial steam systems and their components including boilers, boiler controls, boiler auxiliaries, piping, valves, PRV’s, safety valves, steam traps, expansion joints and condensate pumps.• Basic knowledge of digital and computer control systems.• Basic knowledge of the National Electric Code for Class 1, 2 and 3 low voltage circuits.• Pneumatic control components such as regulators, air dryers, controllers, thermostats, actuators, and operators.• Basic knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives• Knowledge of Building Energy Management system control components and software including fume hood control systems• Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with persons with a wide variety of backgrounds and viewpoints.

Job Description

General Description:As the Senior HVAC Technician, this position will be required to perform operation, maintenance, repair and installation of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning [HVAC] systems and other related components.If needed, campus may vary.*This position is not eligible for telework.*Duties and Tasks:

Supervise contracted HVAC work.
Maintain HVAC equipment and systems, correct problems, and perform new HVAC installations in compliance with applicable codes.
Provide the most economical and safest HVAC service to campus.
Complete work orders with priorities approved by immediate supervisor.
Independently handle emergency work on weekends and holidays.
Lead other HVAC technicians and other trades staff with priorities approved by immediate supervisor, handle emergency work on weekends and holidays
Perform maintenance work, troubleshoot and repair systems.
Support emergency operations and take lead with campuses HVAC contractor’s.



Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA&#039;s/Required Qualifications
KSAs:
Knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance, repair and replacement of HVAC equipment.
Ability to repair and maintain a variety of equipment to include, but not limited to, air conditioning, boilers, air-handlers, fan coil units, pumps, valves, controllers (both DDC &amp;amp; Pneumatic), motors, starters, refrigeration and automated control systems.
Ability to follow verbal instruction and work independently.
Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently.
Proficient in the use of hand and electric tools as well as service manuals and all diagnostic equipment related to the trade.
Ability to move/lift 50 Ibs. on a regular basis.
Ability to function in close quarters or cramped environments.
Ability to operate all required equipment.


Minimum Work Experience:
Unrestricted Valid driver’s license in good standing with good driving record
Commercial HVAC Training
Experience in energy management and mechanical systems.
Experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC equipment and preventive maintenance operation
Experience in multiple Automatic controls/building management computerized controls or equivalent applicable experience or training.

This role involves diagnosing system issues, performing routine and emergency repairs, and ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely. Technicians interact with customers to explain problems and solutions, adhere to safety regulations, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
